Joey Johnson
Raised in a pastor's home in Southeast Missouri, Joey learned to sing at a young
age. "I remember the first time I sang in church. I sang 'Till The Storm Passes
By,' and I knew, even then, it was something I would always be passionate
about." Joey sang with his parents for many years…moments that would shape
his life forever.
Joey then graduated in 1996 from a small private school, and started singing
with a local group, The Promise Landers. Though there was no doubt that God
had given this man a very special voice and music pedigree, still something was
missing.
On November 12, 1998, after many years of battling doubt and confusion, Joey
gave his life to Christ, and for the first time, finally experienced the peace he so
often sang about.
Just a few months after he was saved, God blessed Joey with his second best
decision. Joey married his very best friend Amy, and they started their first full-
time ministry.
Along their journey, God has always blessed them with great friends and life-
long relationships. After serving on a church staff for nine years, Joey accepted
the position with Masters Voice in January, 2008. The detailed story of how God
intricately moved things around to allow Joey to come to MV has resulted in a
powerful soul-winning ministry with, perhaps, the best baritone in gospel music.
Amy and Joey have four children: Abby, Jonah, Jered and Jackson. Joey
says, "God has blessed our life so much. I feel I'm the most blessed person in
the world." He and his family live in a cabin on 10 acres, and when he's home,
you'll find him fishing, hunting, playing ball with the boys, and watching the St.
Louis Cardinals.
"There are many sacrifices involved in what we do, but the blessings far out-
weigh the sacrifices. Singing is my passion. The cause of Christ is my calling.
My heart's desire is to keep pressing on till I finish the race."
